Drummer From Another Mother (DFAM) is an extremely interactive semi-modular analog percussion synthesizer somewhat deviating from a traditional rhythm machine. Handcrafted in the Moog factory in Asheville, NC by Moog employee-members, the DFAM is the newborn of the Mother 32 family. It offers an intuitive and manual approach to the creation of percussive paterns. No need to patch, nor technical knowledge, it is addressed to any human being, of any age, who wishes quickly to synthesize new unique rhythmic compositions.

Activated by a very intuitive analog sequencer, the sounds of the DFAM come to life with a white noise generator and two analog oscillators. The oscillator sync and FM cross-modulation provide natural transitions between rhythmic pulses, bass and resonant bell tones in an instant. The special voice of DFAM is then processed by a Ladder Moog filter with two modes to choose from: the low-pass mode which communicates its impact and its size with each sound it touches and the high-pass mode which naturally opens the carries more expressive strikes and more metallic accents.

DFAM behaves like a living organism and reacts differently depending on the individual. This is due to the three dedicated analog envelopes that work dynamically with the sequencer to ensure the breathing of tribal toms, the evolution of industrial impacts, the proper functioning of the cacophonic chaos generated or subjected to the movement of buttons. Each DFAM is delivered with a package of Moog patch cables which opens access to the modular 24-point patchbay. It will be used to create new sounds, even strange behaviors, to synchronize an unlimited number of DFAM and Mother-32 together, or to integrate your analog instrument in an environment in Eurorack format.
