True to the Koch tradition, this combo sounds much bigger than it looks and it offers a lot of original features. Starting with the 2 EL84 Class A amplifier tubes, a newly designed speaker and cabinet, 3 foot-selectable channels and 2 voice selectors, the Studiotone is reminiscent of the English tube amps of the 1960s. The 3 channels (clean, overdrive and overdrive +) offer warm sounds as much as overdrive and overdrive compression. The 2-position “Mid Shift” selector allows frequencies to be increased to around 800 Hz and the 3-position “Bright” selector allows you to increase or cut the high frequencies. There are also good surprises on the rear panel of the amp and a quick inspection immediately reveals an effects loop, a recording output with simulation of microphone placement and speaker type, 2 line outputs (the one unfiltered and the other low level) and a headphone jack output. The speaker output in 4, 8 or 16 Ohms allows any combination of speakers and the speaker selector allows to mute the speaker to record or use the headphones without being disturbed!
