Jhs Pedals fuzz Legends Of Fuzz Smiley
In 1966, a salesman named Ivor Arbiter saw the booming English scene in demand for fuzz. He decided to bring his company Arbiter Electronics into the guitar product industry and release his own version of this hot new sound. After seeing the circular base of a microphone stand, he had the idea to put the effect in a similar box and give it the appearance of a head with 2 settings for the eyes, a footswitch for the nose. and the name of the brand by way of mouth. Thus was born the Fuzz Face. That same year an American guitarist called Jimi Hendrix arrived in London and adopted Ivor's pedal as his effect of choice and the rest became history. The first Fuzz Face were made with germanium transistors but in 1969, germanium gave way to silicon and Arbiter did not change it any more. Hendrix himself preferred the silicon versions because of their sound, aggressiveness, and stability in environments where germanium was unstable. The JHS Smiley is a faithful recreation of those stunning early silicon Fuzz Face. Several vintage Josh Scott pedals have been analyzed to ensure that the magic of this era is captured to perfection. The Smiley is clear and defined, straddling distortion and searing sustain, lows with sustain and crisp mids faithful to Arbiter's vintage pedals. One of the most popular features of a good Fuzz Face is its ability to lighten up by lowering the volume of the guitar, and the Smiley does this effortlessly. The Fuzz setting controls the saturation for more fuzz. On the side is a Mode button that gives access to a JHS mode with more gain and noise reduction that you won't want to come back to! If you are looking for a fuzz that can cover all classic sounds, look no further. Legends like Jimi Hendrix, Jack White, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour and Eric Johnson have used this circuit in many albums. Now it's your turn!
