Jackson Audio Distortion Asabi
The Asabi, Mateus Asato's signature pedal, is an overdrive and distortion pedal that contains a wide range of sounds. The name Asabi, which means of unusual birth, "was chosen by Mateus because it refers to the unique nature of this pedal, as much as to his own family heritage. But there is even more! The Asabi is the The world's first pedal to work with analog saturation modules! Jackson Audio developed this replaceable module technology so that you can completely replace and change the Asabi's saturation circuit without having to purchase a new pedal. These are not Software updates that load new presets, they are full-fledged analog printed circuits with the same op-amps, transistors, diodes, resistors and capacitors used in any saturation pedal. The saturation module delivered with the Asabi is the Modern High Gain and it's a high gain clipping circuit inspired by the Marshall JCM800. Because of that, the sound is very open and fun to play! ut, from 80s hard rock to more modern heavy sounds. Distortion Channel The Asabi's distortion channel is a hard-gain circuit designed after the Marshall JCM800. As a result, the sound is very open, crisp and fun to play, from 80s hard rock to big modern gains! The Asabi has 4 different diode clipping presets, which can be activated after a long press: • 1-Amber: Guv'nor style. 2 LEDs are used to symmetrically and evenly clip the high and low portions of your guitar waveform. The diodes give a lot more dynamics to give a more open and less compressed sound, like a vintage Marshall. • 2-Green: 808 style. 2 symmetrical silicon diodes give the saturation and compression typical of the 808. • 3-Blue: Asymmetrical High Gain. 3 unbalanced diodes (2 silicon and 1 LED) clip the high and low portions of your guitar waveform to give a more complex sound, perfect for aggressive rhythm parts. • 4-Magenta: Symmetrical High Gain. 4 symmetrical silicon diodes clip the high and low portions of your guitar waveform for a more focused and direct sound. A unique circuit allows the output level of the pedal to be matched to the selected clipping, so the volume remains constant regardless of the clipping you choose. Gain Cycle The Gain Cycle function takes the position of the Gain control, which sets the maximum gain, and divides it into 4 equal parts, then each time you press both footswitches simultaneously, the gain increases by 25% up to 100% , then back to 25%, etc. The Drive diode changes intensity according to the percentage of gain chosen. Active 3-Band EQ The Asabi's distortion circuit has 3-band parametric EQ. Studio quality, this EQ gives superb tonal flexibility to the Asabi and is designed after the legendary Baxandall EQ that has been featured in many studios around the world. The Asabi takes this circuit by adapting it for guitarists. Overdrive Channel To push the distortion even further, the Asabi's Overdrive Channel is an incredibly touch sensitive overdrive circuit. Designed for maximum transparency, the Asabi's overdrive is completely flat in its frequency response, with no bumps in the mids. The Asabi's overdrive only pushes your sound forward without distorting it. Just like the distortion channel, the Asabi has 4 different diode clipping presets, which can be activated after a long press: • 1-Amber: Vintage Marshall. 2 blue diodes are used to symmetrically and evenly clip the high and low portions of your guitar waveform. The diodes give a lot more dynamics to give a more open and less compressed sound, like a vintage Marshall. • 2-Green: Classic Screamer. 2 symmetrical silicon diodes give the classic saturation and compression typical of Tube Screamer. • 3-Blue: Asymmetric clipping. 3 unbalanced diodes (2 silicon and 1 red diode) clip the high and low portions of your guitar waveform to give a more complex sound, perfect for aggressive rhythm parts. • 4-Magenta: Symmetrical clipping. 4 symmetrical silicon diodes clip the high and low portions of your guitar waveform for a more focused and direct sound. MIDI Features Take advantage of even more possibilities with your analog pedal thanks to MIDI by controlling the Clipping presets, Gain Cycle, EQ, and the on / off of the overdrive and distortion channels. Settings • Volume: general volume of the distortion circuit. • Pres: tone of the distortion circuit, can be used as a general tone control to adapt the pedal to brighter or darker rooms. • Gain: maximum gain of the distortion circuit. • Bass: neutral at noon and +/- 20dB on each side. • Middle: neutral at noon and +/- 20dB on each side, with a center frequency around 660 Hz. • Treble: neutral at noon and +/- 20dB on each side. • Vol: general volume of the overdrive circuit. • Tone: tone of the overdrive circuit. • Drive: gain of the overdrive channel.
