The Plumes is a low to moderate gain overdrive pedal designed after the famous green overdrive that became standard upon its release. It's the kind of overdrive that works well with a good transistor amp to create the warm overdrive that people often refer to as transparent. ”While this circuit has become the foundation for countless other overdrives to date, the Plumes has several features that make it very different from others.The Plumes fulfills the JRC4558 op-amp and BJT buffers to replace them with low-noise JFET op-amps in order to obtain a more robust and precise signal with much lower noise level The 9 volt input power is converted internally to +/- 9 volts to give more dynamics and near three dimensional clarity The input impedance has increased to a whopping 10 M? for a louder signal with more brilliance. The Cutoff of the Tone control has been adjusted to achieve a more effective range with more vibrant bass in the bass without sacrificing midrange precision and treble brilliance. Last but not least, the Plumes offers 3 different clipping options to make sure it will go with a wide variety of material and music styles. Mode 1 is symmetrical clipping that uses a pair of LEDs and is the most crunchy mode in the Plumes. On a clean amp, it will reproduce that classic crunchy transistor amp sound very well. Mode 2 is a clear boost that eliminates diodes to leave only the op-amp saturation. This is perfect for putting your clean sound forward or for pushing the preamp of an already overdriven amp. Mode 3 is an unbalanced silicon diode configuration similar to classic Screamers but with more output level and more clarity, which sound some call "transparent".
